DETAILED ITINERARY

Expedition Värmland: A 5-Day Adventure in Sweden's Wild Heart

Day 1: Warm Welcome at Hillringsberg Herrgård

Your journey begins at Hillringsberg Herrgård, a historic manor perched by a serene fjord. Upon arrival, settle into your cozy accommodations and meet your hosts, Alf and Iben, who will share the intriguing history of this unique place. Afterward, enjoy a delightful welcome dinner followed by a relaxing evening. Whether you stroll along the fjord, unwind by the campfire, or savor the calm in the manor's orangery, the tranquil surroundings will ease you into your adventure.

Day 2: Exploring Lake Vänern & Lurö Archipelago

After a slow morning, embark on a guided boat tour of Lake Vänern, Europe’s largest freshwater lake. Cruise through the mesmerizing Lurö Archipelago, home to thousands of islands teeming with wildlife. Your guide, a seasoned ranger, will share stories of the region’s natural and cultural history as you keep an eye out for ospreys, white-tailed eagles, and other majestic birds. Step ashore for a scenic hike, where stunning viewpoints and fascinating ecosystems await. Indulge in a traditional Swedish Fika with local treats, and relish smoked fish and seafood straight from the lake. This day is a perfect blend of exploration and relaxation, leaving you inspired by Sweden’s aquatic wonders.

Day 3: Into the Wild – Tracking and Tales in the Forest

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before venturing into the Glaskogen Nature Reserve. Under the guidance of an expert tracker, learn the art of wildlife tracking—deciphering footprints, markings, and other signs left by the forest’s elusive inhabitants. On a guided botanical hike led by a biologist, uncover the secrets of Sweden’s flora and fauna. Discover edible berries, mushrooms, and herbs while marveling at panoramic forest views. Return to the manor for a well-deserved lunch, then prepare for an unforgettable evening. As dusk falls, journey deeper into the wild to a prime spot for observing wildlife like moose, red deer, birds and -with a little luck - the rare white moose. With your guide’s expertise, learn to move silently through the forest, heightening your chances of witnessing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 4: Canoeing Adventure on Lake Stora Gla

After a relaxed breakfast, gear up for a canoeing excursion on Lake Stora Gla, a serene waterway surrounded by wild nature. Paddle stable Canadian-style canoes, ideal for beginners and experienced adventurers alike. Glide past islands and coves while keeping an eye out for birdlife such as black-throated divers, ospreys, and herons. In the evening, enjoy an outdoor dinner at a secluded spot, with the sun setting in a blaze of color over the water, creating a perfect end to your adventure.

Day 5: Farewell to the Wild

Start your day with a peaceful nature walk along the lakeshore, taking in the fresh morning air and reflecting on your adventure. Gather for a farewell moment to share stories and memories from the trip.
